About Me
Don Winner is a retired U.S. Air Force veteran with a 20-year career in military intelligence, serving as a Korean and Spanish cryptologic linguist, signals intelligence analyst, and Special Operations SIGINT specialist. His assignments took him across Korea, NSA, DIA, Panama, the Middle East, and beyond — supporting elite military units and national-level operations at the highest levels of the intelligence community.
After active duty, he worked as a civilian contractor across Latin America before building a reputation as one of Panama's most prominent investigative journalists. His reporting — featured on CBS 48 Hours, Dateline NBC, and the BBC — contributed to the arrest of multiple serial killers and drew international media attention.
Back in the United States, his lifelong fascination with the deeper questions — what happens when we die, where our beliefs come from, and what consciousness really is — led him to spend years researching near-death experiences through the same analytical lens he once applied to intelligence work. That research became the foundation for his book, You're Going To Die Someday, Right? — Near Death Experiences Reveal What Happens Next, published in November 2025.
The book argues that prehistoric near-death experiences were the seed of all human afterlife belief and religion — a bold thesis backed by 426 pages of original analysis spanning anthropology, neuroscience, theology, and the testimony of thousands of NDE survivors. It has been called a genuinely original contribution to one of humanity's oldest questions.
Don is based in Hudson Valley, New York, and is available for speaking engagements, podcast interviews, and media inquiries.
